“Nothing Short of Sensational” - BBC Introducing

"The Loft Club have a sense of classicism running through their music. The Exeter group have that chiming guitar sound, so redolent of everyone from The Byrds to Big Star. Alongside this are elements of Folk and Americana, all kept together by an inherent romantic streak." - Clash Magazine

Introducing The Loft Club, purveyors of stomping, heartfelt, sixties tinged guitarpop.

British indie band, The Loft Club are an Exeter-based quintet, consisting of Daniel Schamroth, Jamie Whyte, Kieran Chalmers, Amy O’Loughlin and Dan Wright.

Comparisons range from Buffalo Springfield, Fleetwood Mac and The Byrds through to Ryan Adams and Noel Gallagher, a broad sonic palette unified by soaring harmonies and singalong choruses. British blog, Listen With Monger said of the band’s music: “Essentially, this is the music that the Beatles would have produced if, instead of getting introspective in India, they'd gone to the Mid-West with a burnt out double decker and gone native for a few months.”

Formed in 2015 from a string of chance meetings at shows and house parties, The Loft Club steadily built a local following playing shows and festivals. In 2016, their demo caught the attention of Arnie Holland, CEO of Lightyear Entertainment, who said “I was hooked by the melodies, harmonies, and infectious beat.” The band signed a worldwide distribution deal with the US based label, which in turn is distributed by Caroline Distribution/Universal Music Group. Lightyear’s catalogue includes releases by Eurythmics, Stevie Nicks, Damian Marley, Sophie B. Hawkins, and the fifth beatle Pete Best.

Their debut release, a 4-track EP entitled ‘Heart’s Desire’ was released in October 2016, through Lightyear/Caroline/Universal Music. The EP was recorded with producer Jolyon Holroyd at Valvetastic Studios, and mixed in LA by The Smashing Pumpkins collaborator Kevin Dippold. The title track, which had its video shot inside Exeter’s iconic Royal Albert Memorial Museum, received support from over 50 specialist radio stations across the country, and was added to popular Spotify playlists such as Radio Active’s “Indie Hit List”.

In November 2016, the band released a remix of “Heart’s Desire” by German producer Niklas Ibach. It garnered early attention from bloggers, and after six weeks had amassed over 100,000 plays. The remix become a viral success after it was added to Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlist, making Spotify's weekly Viral 50 chart in Lithuania at #29 on March 27th 2017, while the band surpassed 70,000 Monthly Listeners on Spotify that month.

The Loft Club's latest single “Flicker” features 2018 Grammy award winning American artist Lisa Loeb and was released late summer 2017. Their debut album is due for release in 2018, to be accompanied by their first full UK tour.
